      Somewhere around the Worcester area.

Dinner and evening at a pub.

If your’re interested leave a comment below with links to any nice pubs we might use (that have accommodation) and email me, subject ‘Worcester’.

Timing all depends on replies but this year likely Sept/Oct.

Only an hours drive from Hereford. Cannot do 30/31 Sep or 1/2/3 Oct, as we have our first go-live so I shall be working.

      Hi All,

To set the ball rolling will suggest 3 local “non-city” venues that offer both accommodation and good food:

Bank House Hotel, Bransford (Olde Worlde, golf course, 3m Worcester)

The Swan Inn, Hanley Swan (Village green type, v popular, near Malvern)

The Baiting House, Upper Sapey (Out in sticks, excellent food, 9m Worcester)

Am sure someone with recent experience can suggest the best Worcester venues and accommodation.

Another local venue to add to above list:

The Crown Inn & Sandys, Ombersley. (Renowned village inn, 3m Worcester)

Just a point t Bank House is out on its own. Moving on from there will require taxi. Unless you walk a mile or so to the Fox.

Heads up to those with Hotels.com or Expedia Rewards accounts – they list the hotel mentioned so you can get your usual 10% off the website price.

Hi all. As per SB’s earlier e-m request, have proffered for consideration an alternative venue in town to eliminate the need for taxi’s.

Ye Olde Talbot Inn (Olde English Inns)

As being fairly local, I’m happy to go wherever is decided.

        Hi Crikey,

Multi storey car parks, 1 opposite Cathedral (next to Talbot), 1 above main shopping centre; 3 or 4 sizeable open air pay and display types within 400 yards of the Cathedral. Wouldn’t advise street parking.

        Hope this helps.

As most of you seem to prefer staying in the centre I am minded to change the venue.

OK, I’m good for any time until mid-Dec, and don’t care where we meet so if the last venue was a good one that’s fine by me, otherwise there seems to be a vast number of places round here compared to where I’ve just moved from, but I don’t know any of them yet..

Fully flexible here Wooshy, dates and food choices. Plenty of potential venues. Will dig out a few more suggestions… Nags Head, Malvern; Rectifying House, Worcester; Crown (Spoons), Worcester.

P.s I was originally going to go for the 30th of November. But with Tommy’s March going on, on the 1st I thought we could discus the days events after. Again any issues or problems get at me.

Slight issue this morning, I rang Ye Olde Talbot last week to book a table, which was apparently fine. I had a phone call this morning to say they have had a double booking, they said they can accommodate us in the bar. If people are happy with that then it’s fine by me. But I am going to ring a few other pubs to see if I can get a table. If people could let me know. Sorry about this.

Wooshy, appreciate your efforts, and I’m fine wherever.
However, can’t have GP’s hat going missing! I’ll bring my own with the large brim, in case the ceiling still leaks.
I haven’t seen a place so awash with pubs and hostelries for years. Surprised the entire population isn’t horizontal by and large. Kempsey, nearest place to me, just outside W, must have 7 or 8. Even Green Street has one that does meals, although that is only open certain days – and there can’t be above a couple of dozen or so houses there.

OK, sorry hectic day. I have rang the crown (spoons) they can accept us. I have also been thinking I am presuming people will possibly be driving, if people are not bothered about being in the city as such I’ve been told there should be room at the Stonehouse Manor on Malvern Road or The Swan at Whittington (just off junction 7 M5) both of these have on site parking. So if people prefer the centre or outskirts let me know! I know most people said they are easy. Sorry its all abit Heath Robinson.

Spoons’ fine Wooshy, see you there. There seems to be parking close-by at CrownGate Shopping Centre, they do 5pm – 9am for £1.
        WR1 3LX [Moreton Place]

Oh, also, there’s a Premier Inn just over the Worcester Bridge, by the cricket ground, in case anyone’s stuck..

    • #11542

      Participant

OK I am going to say the Crown in Worcester. They have said we don’t have to book, it might be busy mind. It’s a Weatherspoons so it’s not going to break the bank. But it’s not going to 5 star Michelin grade quality. (just so everyone know what we are getting into) If anyone has any issues speak up now. If people do want to think about parking and such I recommend parking at Pitchcroft car park or the Hive. Postcode for these are:-
      WR1 3RD for Parking
WR1 3LL the Crown in Worcester.
If anyone wants me to meet them somewhere to walk them in if they are unsure let me know. One final thing apparently its going to be the first day of the Christmas Market in Worcester, I do imagine it’s going to be pretty rammed of people. So if people do fancy a quieter drink and food say now and I will book at table at The Swan at Whittington. Again I can only apologise for the Heath Robinson of all this. Hectic week in work, I’m already over 40 hours and I’ve got to work saturday before our meet up too!
